The 1997/98 season was the seventh edition of the Slovenian ice hockey league after Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia . It was held with nine teams. The defending champion and new champion was HDD Olimpija Ljubljana .

Participant field and mode

A ninth team, HDK Bled , joined last season's participants . In contrast to the previous year, however, the inclusion of the Alpine League, which was played before the Slovenian league, was abandoned. The championship began on December 2, 1997 with a basic round, which was held as a simple round trip. The four best-placed teams then played the final placement for the playoffs, which were held in the form of a final and a game for third place. The teams in places five to nine played the final placements in parallel in the form of a double round trip.
