history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1749; the name probably refers to the church built there, dedicated to the icon of Our Lady of the Sign (Russian Snamenije ). It belonged to the Ujesd Bolchow , from 1778 part of the governorship of Oryol, from 1796 of the Oryol governorate . In 1861 the place became the seat of a Volost .

After the dissolution of the governorates and Ujesde, Znamenskoye came to the newly formed Uskinski rajon on July 30, 1928, based in the 10 km northwestern village of Uskoye in the Central Black Earth Oblast (Central Chernosyomnaja oblast). On August 5, 1929, the administrative seat of the Rajon was moved to Znamenskoje and the Rajon was renamed accordingly. Within the oblast, the Rajon belonged to the Okrug Orjol until its dissolution on July 23, 1930 . On September 25, 1930, the Rajon was dissolved again and its territory was assigned to the Bolchowski rajon to the east. On January 18, 1935, the Rajon was expelled again, now in the holdings of the now existing Kursk Oblast ; on September 27, 1937 he came to Oryol Oblast, which was spun off from this region.

During the Second World War , the Znamensky rajon was occupied by the German Wehrmacht from October 14, 1941 to August 16, 1943 .

On February 1, 1963, the Rajon was dissolved again and connected to the southwestern neighboring Chotynezki rajon. It was restored on August 23, 1985.
