Summer night of the musical

The summer night of the musical is a series of concerts that takes place annually as part of the Fantastival festival in the Burgtheater of the city of Dinslaken . The concert is organized by Bertram Ernst, owner of Mönchspfeffer GmbH, which is active in the field of live communication. The concert format is considered the most famous musical fan gala in Germany and usually presents six stars of the German musical scene with a repertoire of musical songs every year .

history

The first summer night of the musical took place in the summer of 1999 in the Burgtheater Dinslaken and has been organized by Mönchspfeffer GmbH since the beginning. The owner Bertram Ernst is also the musical director of the concerts and accompanies the soloists on the stage on the keyboard. In a few years, Ernst also took over the moderation alongside musical actors such as Patrick Stanke or Serkan Kaya .

The concerts are characterized above all by the presentation of generally known musical songs in new formations. In 2008 the two great Elisabeths Pia Douwes and Maya Hakvoort from the musical of the same name stood together for a duet on stage for the first time. The summer night of the musical is also known to fans of the musical scene due to unexpected and spontaneous shows such as Serkan Kaya's “How do I become a musical star?” Or Patrick Stankes and Roberta Valentini's version of the love duet “As long as I have you” from the musical Wicked - The Witches of Oz , in which Stanke and Valentini swapped roles.

Every year a different musical is the focus of the first half of the concert, from which the actors perform songs.
