Spychówko (1946 to 1945 Pupki , German  Klein Puppen ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Świętajno (rural community Schwentainen , 1938 to 1945 Altkirchen (Eastern Pr.) ) In the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).

Geographical location

Spychówko is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Puppen ( Jezioro Spychowskie in Polish ) in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 23 kilometers east of the district town of Szczytno ( German Ortelsburg ).

history

The founding privilege of Klein Pupken (so called until around 1785) is dated February 14, 1671. The place consisted of a few small courtyards and was called from 1892 as a place to live in the municipality of Puppen (Polish 1946 to 1960 Pupy , since 1961 Spychowo ). In 1781, the "financial circumstances in Klein Puppen as mediocre". In 1932, two estates with the owners Luise Konopatzki and Gustav Schittek were named in the village .

As a result of the war, Klein Puppen came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia and in 1946 was given the Polish name form “Pupki”, which was then changed from 1961 to “Spychowo”. The place is called today "część wsi Spychowo" (= "part of the village Spychowo") and belongs to the association of the rural community Świętajno (Schwentainen , 1938 to 1945 Altkirchen (Eastern Pr.) ) In the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the voivodeship Olsztyn , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945, Klein Puppen was parish in the Protestant Church of Puppen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church of Ortelsburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today Spychówko belongs to the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Aid in Spychowo in what is now the Archdiocese of Warmia . On the evangelical side, the place is aligned with the parish in Szczytno in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Spychówko can be reached from Spychowo (Puppen) on a lakeshore road. Spychowo is also the nearest train station on the Olsztyn – Ełk ( German  Allenstein – Lyck ) line.
