Niedźwiedzi Kąt (1945 to 2012 (?) Niedźwiedzica , German  Bärenwinkel ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Świętajno (rural community Schwentainen , 1938 to 1945 Altkirchen (Eastern Pr.) ) In the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ) .

Geographical location

Niedźwiedzi Kąt is located in the southern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 27 kilometers east of the district town of Szczytno ( German  Ortelsburg ).

history

Bear angle was founded in 1873 and was one of the state forest Dolls (Polish Spychowo ) in the East Prussian district Szczytno belonging forester . In 1910 177 inhabitants were registered here. In 1939 the place was named as the district forestry department assigned to the Puppen forestry.

1945 Bears angle came in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and received the Polish form of the name "Niedźwiedzica" which was changed from 2013 (?) In "Niedźwiedzi Kąt". Today's forest settlement ( Osada leśna in Polish ) is now a village within the Gmina Świętajno (Schwentainen , 1938 to 1945 Altkirchen (Eastern Pr.) ) In the Szczycieński powiat ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Bärenwinkel was parish in the Protestant Church Puppen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church Ortelsburg in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Niedźwiedzi Kąt belongs to the Roman Catholic parish Spychowo in what is now the Archdiocese of Warmia , and also to the Evangelical Church of Szczytno in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Niedźwiedzi Kąt can be reached via a side road that branches off from state road 59 at Szklarnia (Adamsverdruß) and leads directly into the village. The nearest train station is Spychowo (Puppets) on the Olsztyn – Ełk railway line .
