Geographical location

history

The Kobiel forestry department was founded around 1800. Until 1945 it belonged to the state forest of Ratzeburg (Polish Racibórz ) and was a residential area in the municipality of Piassutten (1938 to 1945 Seenwalde , Polish Piasutno ). For political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-sounding place names, Kobiel was renamed "Seeblick" on June 3, 1938 - officially confirmed on July 16, 1938.

With the whole of southern East Prussia , the small town was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and received the - now Polish - name form "Kobiel" back. As Waldsiedlung ( Polish Osada leśna ) Kobiel is now a village within the Gmina Świętajno (Town Schwentainen , 1938-1945 Altkirchen (Ostpr.) ) In Szczytno County (District Szczytno ) until 1998, the Olsztyn province , since the Warmia and Mazury belong .
