The Evangelical Lutheran St. Mary's Church in Hattstedt is located in Hattstedt ( Schleswig-Holstein ). The villages of Hattstedt, Hattstedtermarsch , Wobbenbüll and Horstedt belong to the parish of Hattstedt .

history

Around 1200 the originally Romanesque church was built in brick with a nave , choir and apse . A second, longer and wider nave was added, and the original, now shortened, nave served as a choir.

At the end of the 15th century, further major alterations were made; among other things, the massive tower was built. The south and east sides consist mainly of ashlar stones , while the north and east sides are made of yellow bricks . The input portal of the vessel were walled and postponed the main portal in the west end of the tower. In 1964 this entrance was walled up and the main entrance is now the north portal.

Since the church consists of two naves of different widths, it is clear that it was built in several construction phases.
