Stefan Zimmermann (born December 16, 1959 in Rheydt ) is a German actor , director and theater producer. Since 2005 he has been directing the a.gon theater production in Munich with Iris von Zastrow .

Life

Stefan Zimmermann spent his school days in Trier , where he graduated from high school in 1979. As a teenager he appeared in the Trier City Theater in his first roles. He received acting lessons from Herbert Steiniger, a former member of the ensemble at the Kölner Schauspiel. From 1992 to 1999 Zimmermann studied modern German literature, history and law at the Hagen Distance Learning University and graduated with a master's degree . His master's thesis deals with the relationship between acting and drama in Lessing's Dramaturgie und Dramatik (1999).

In 1981 Stefan Zimmermann was hired as an actor at the Theater Aachen , where he remained in permanent engagement until 1985. In 1986 he moved to the Vienna Chamber Opera, where he assisted Fritz Muliar and George Tabori . As a dialogue director and dramaturge , he oversaw opera productions, including in Der Bajazzo .

In 1987 Zimmermann moved to Munich, where he initially worked as an actor. The Residenztheater hired him for Heinrich or the pains of fantasy . He was then cast for TV roles and received play contracts for various roles and theater. Stefan Zimmermann has been working at the a.gon Theater since 2005. From then on, he mainly staged for his guest performances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, such as Enchanted April (German premiere), closing balance , love lies and many more.

Zimmermann he worked on the novel The German Lesson by Siegfried Lenz for the stage, the first performance was on November 4, 2014 in Lahr . In 2015 this production received the 3rd prize “Die Neuberin” from INTHEGA. On September 8, 2016, his stage version of the French film Monsieur Claude and his daughters was premiered at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna and was then shown in Hamburg, Frankfurt a. M., Stuttgart and Berlin on the theater schedules. He is the author of the play "Mr. President First", which premiered on March 13, 2019 in Remchingen on a tour of the a.gon Theater.

The theater work for small to medium-sized cities that buy finished productions from their cultural budget occupied Stefan Zimmermann as a separate cultural-political area of ​​responsibility. In 2010 he was a founding member of the Die Theaterinitiative e. V., which, among other things, advocates the preservation of the guest theater on a public law basis and of which he is chairman.

Stefan Zimmermann has three children. He lives in Munich.
