Architecture and history

The street-side two-storey house was built in half-timbered construction, probably at the beginning of the 17th century. The upper floor clearly protrudes. The arrangement of the windows and the roof structure are also based on the construction period. A renovation took place in the first half of the 18th century. The heavily profiled eaves plank goes back to him. During another renovation in around 1830, the house was plastered and the gate was designed as it is today.

The courtyard of the property is surrounded on four sides. In addition to the residential building, there is another residential wing, a barn and a gate barn . These half-timbered buildings were built between the 17th and 19th centuries.

The complex serves as the town of Braunschweig's inn . After a long period of vacancy, the building was in need of renovation. In 2010 new owners started the renovation. It was funded by the German Foundation for Monument Protection . The renovation lasted until 2011. During the renovation, the plastering was also removed and the framework was exposed again. The compartments are partially lined with a decorative brickwork.
