Stojan Batschwarow ( Bulgarian Стоян Бъчваров ; born August 1, 1967 ) is a former Bulgarian ice hockey player who was four times Bulgarian champion and twice Turkish champion . He is currently the general manager of the Bulgarian national team. He was also active in inline hockey for his home country as a player and national coach.

Career

Stoyan Batschwarow played in his career for various clubs in the Bulgarian ice hockey league and the Turkish super league . He was Turkish champion with the İstanbul Paten SK in 1998 and with the Büyükşehir Belediyesi Ankara SK in 2003 and Bulgarian champion with the HK Slawia Sofia in 2004, 2005 and 2009 as well as with the Akademik Sofia in 2007 . In 2000 he won the Bulgarian Cup competition with HK Levski Sofia , 2007 with Akademik Sofia and 2004 and 2009 with HK Slawia Sofia . In the seasons 1999/2000 , when he played for Levski, and 2006/07 , when he was on the ice with Akademik, he was the top scorer of the Bulgarian league. After the third league title and the second cup win with Slavia, he ended his career in 2009.

International

With the Bulgarian national team Batschwarow first took part in the B World Championships in 1992 and 1993 , the C World Championships in 1989 , 1991 , 1994 , 1995 , 1999 and 2000 and the D World Championship in 1998 . After switching to the current division system, he played in Division II in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 and 2009. He also represented his colors in the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010 . With 103 points he is still the top scorer of the Bulgarian national team.

After the end of his active career, he was assistant coach of the Bulgarian youngsters in Division III at the 2011 U18 World Cup . At the Men's World Championship Division III 2017 he was general manager of the Bulgarian selection.

Inline hockey

Batschwarow was also active in inline hockey for Bulgaria. For example, he played at the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship in 2013 and was later the Bulgarian national coach.
