Stredné Plachtince (until 1927 also "Prostredné Plachtince" in Slovak; German Mitterplachtintz , Hungarian Középpalojta ) is a municipality in southern Slovakia with 587 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Veľký Krtíš , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The community is located on the south-eastern edge of Krupinská planina (German about "Karpfener plateau") in the valley of the Plachtinský potok , when it leaves the plateau and is now in the Ipeľská kotlina basin . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 225 m nm and is seven kilometers from Veľký Krtíš .
Neighboring municipalities are Horné Plachtince and Dačov Lom in the north, Modrý Kameň in the east, Dolné Plachtince in the south and Príbelce in the southwest and west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1473 as Kezeppalotha or Palahta and was owned by several families of the lower nobility over the centuries. In 1828 there were 116 houses and 700 residents who were employed as farmers and winemakers.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Hont County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
population
According to the 2011 census, 651 people lived in Stredné Plachtince, of which 601 were Slovaks , five Poles , four Czechs and one each from Rome and one Serb . 37 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
373 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 161 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, 37 residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one to the Orthodox Church. 26 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 52 inhabitants was not determined.
