Čebovce (Hungarian: Csáb ) is a municipality in Okres Veľký Krtíš on the edge of the Krupinská planina (literally: "Carp Plateau") in southern Slovakia .
The population consists mainly of Hungary and lives from agriculture and viticulture.
The place was first mentioned in 1272 as Posessio Chab , the most famous son of the place is the Hungarian writer Fábián János Szeder , who was born here in 1784.
Until 1918 the community belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . She came back to Hungary for a short time from 1938 to 1945 through the First Vienna Arbitration .
Regular event
Every year on a Sunday in June, Falunap (Village Day) is held, a festival and entertainment program with Slovak and Hungarian folk groups performing.
