Horné Plachtince (German Oberplachtintz , Hungarian Felsőpalojta ) is a municipality in the south of Slovakia with 205 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Veľký Krtíš , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The community is located on the south-eastern edge of Krupinská planina (German about "Karpfener Hochebene") in the valley of the Plachtinský potok . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 243 m nm and is eight and a half kilometers from Veľký Krtíš .
Neighboring communities are Sucháň in the north, Stredné Plachtince in the east and south, Príbelce in the south-west, Čebovce in the west and Litava in the north-west.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1244 as Palahta and was then in the dominion of the Hont Castle . 1465 a market right is proven. In 1828 there were 50 houses and 300 residents who were employed as farmers and fruit growers.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Hont County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 207 inhabitants in Horné Plachtince, of which 199 were Slovaks , two Magyars and one Pole and one Czech . Four residents did not give any information about their ethnicity .
123 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 44 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, six residents to the Reformed Church and one resident each to the Old Catholic Church and the Evangelical Methodist Church. 14 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 18 residents was not determined.
