history

Supélec was founded in 1894 in the 15th arrondissement of Paris by the Société Internationale des Électriciens (now Société des électriciens et des électroniciens ). The first location was on rue de Staël, later the move was made to the Paris suburb of Malakoff . Since 1975, Supélec has been located in Gif-sur-Yvette , 20 km south of Paris . The Gif-sur-Yvette campus is located on the Saclay plateau . A branch was opened in Rennes in 1972, and Metz followed in 1985.

Supélec has been in talks with the École Centrale Paris since 2009 . It is planned to establish an international location in Saclay under the name Project Campus du plateau de Saclay .

  • electronics
  • telecommunications
  • Computer science
  • automation
  • Signal processing

Students also attend lectures in math, economics, law, and languages.

Third year

In the third and final year, students have several options. On the one hand, students can stay at Supélec and choose a specialization subject to study from September to April. This is followed by an internship lasting 4 to 6 months. On the other hand, there is the possibility of participating in an exchange program with French or foreign universities. Possible French partner schools are:

Around 40% of students choose a foreign partner school.

Since most of the students live on campus, there are many student activities there, such as:

  • The Forum Supélec , which organizes the annual Job and Career Fair,
  • The Bureau des Elèves , which organizes most of the extracurricular events at the school, including the annual gala event,
  • J2S , Supelec's junior company, which acts as a contractor for industrial companies, allowing students to gain experience and make money. J2S is the second largest junior company in France.
  • The Bureau des Sports : This sports club organizes all the sports activities and tournaments of the Supélec, especially the TOSS (Tournoi omnisport de Supélec), which brings together more than 3200 athletes every year.
