Synagogue (Barr)

The synagogue in Barr , a French commune in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region , was built in 1878 and demolished in 1989. The synagogue was on rue des Lièvres.

The synagogue, built according to plans by the architect Albert Brion, was inaugurated on September 26, 1878.

During the German occupation in World War II , the building was damaged and misused. After 1945 the synagogue was renovated and re-consecrated in 1950. After the dissolution of the Barr Jewish community , the synagogue was demolished in 1989.

The bid boards and the portal inscription have been preserved and were set up in the park of the Elisa Foundation in Strasbourg .
