TTC Frickenhausen
The Table Tennis Club Frickenhausen is a sports club in the Baden-Württemberg community of Frickenhausen . In 2019 the club name was changed to "Tischtennis Frickenhausen".
Club history
The TTC Frickenhausen was founded on July 25, 1971 as a pure table tennis club. The first chairman until 2016 was Rolf Wohlhaupter-Hermann, who is also a founding member of the association. From 1995 the first men's team of the club played in the table tennis Bundesliga ; after eleven years of membership in the 2nd BL, the rise was fought for by Qiu Jianxin , Peter Stellwag , Jürgen Rebel , Rüdiger Klein, Ralf Dooley and Hartmut Frank. The greatest successes were the championship wins in 2006 and 2007.
Since 1998 the association has been running under the name TTC metabo Frickenhausen, named after the tool manufacturer. After the departure of this sponsor, its name was deleted from the club name by resolution of the general meeting on August 15, 2005. In April 2008 the TTC Frickenhausen merged with the Bundesliga club Müller Würzburger Hofbräu , the new club name was TTC Müller Frickenhausen / Würzburg. A year later this merger was reversed and the clubs became independent again. In 2010, the TTC had to go to the 2nd Bundesliga. A main sponsor could again be won. Since July 1, 2010, the TTC has been called TTC matec Frickenhausen. In the following season, the team managed to return directly to the TTBL. In 2015, the club dissolved the first team for financial reasons and withdrew from the Bundesliga. After matec left at the end of the 2014/15 season, the club name was changed back to TTC Frickenhausen. After the 2017/18 season, again for financial reasons, he withdrew from the 2nd division and thus from professional sport. From the 2018/19 season, the men's team will play in the national class (9th division). After the merger with the table tennis department of TSV Frickenhausen in 2019, the club name was changed to "Tischtennis Frickenhausen".
The second team last played in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2014/15 season. The young talents Liang and Dang Qiu were active in this team . At the European Youth Championship in Istanbul 2010, the students won bronze with the team. Dang Qiu was also third in the student singles.
The first women's team is active in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. A total of four men's, three women's and three youth teams take part in the game.
In 2020, the club founded its own disabled sports department for the first time. As part of this department, a total of three wheelchair table tennis teams will take part in the games of the German Wheelchair Sports Association from the 2020/2021 season. The first wheelchair table tennis team will compete in the 1st German wheelchair table tennis league. The second and third teams start in the regional league. The leading player was the two-time Paralympics medalist and multiple world and European champion in wheelchair table tennis in class 3, Thomas Brüchle . In addition to eight wheelchair players, four standing handicapped players will also compete in para-table tennis for table tennis Frickenhausen in the future.
