Spielverderber ( working title: Backgammon ) is a television film from the TV crime series Tatort by ARD and ORF . The film was produced by WDR and first broadcast on June 8, 1987. It is the 194th episode in the crime scene series and the 15th case for the chief detective Horst Schimanski ( Götz George ) and Christian Thanner ( Eberhard Feik ).

action

The noble prostitute Ulla, known as the countess who worked for Luden Toni, is murdered. The hiding place of the milieu expert Mottenpaule is at the place where the body was found. When Detective Inspector Schimanski visits him, he is told that the victim wanted to turn a client's secret into money and that Toni has recently started an expensive nightclub. Schimanski confronts Toni with Ulla's death, but he is surprised.

At the station, Schimanski learns from his colleague Thanner that a Mr. Grüber has reported on the dead man's answering machine, who can be quickly identified by Hänschen's help. He is an import - export businessman. Schimanski runs into an elderly man with both Grüber and Toni. The man turns out to be a BKA officer named Tumler, who also seems to have an interest in Grüber's business. Schimanski wants to meet with Mottenpaule to find out more, but finds him dead. Toni is accused of trying to pull himself out of the affair with the help of his partner Geibel. When Toni disappears, Schimanski gets a tip from Geibel, who pretends to want to disembark Toni, where he can be found.

He tracks down Toni in an abandoned factory building and arrests him. The weapon that Schimanski finds on him turns out to be a murder weapon . Toni remains stubborn during the interrogation and Thanner follows Grüber, who is flying to Geneva . At the airport, Grüber meets Tumler. Schimanski then visits Tumler in his comfortably furnished apartment and slowly mutual sympathy develops. In a night bar, Schimanski gets a tip from his girlfriend Jenny that some men are planning to raid an ammunition depot of the Bundeswehr . When Schimanski and Thanner go to Geibel in Toni's nightclub , they find him dead on the dance floor. To their great surprise, the dead man turns out to be the LKA officer Stadelmaier who worked for Tumler.

During a tougher interrogation, Tonis softens and admits to having done the dirty work for Grüber, including the murder. For Thanner, Tumler is becoming more and more shady as he is obviously trying to protect Grüber. Schimanski, Thanner and Hänschen watch the ammunition depot as three masked men break in and steal a truck with weapons. While escaping, Schimanski was able to overpower one of the perpetrators and use his taxi to follow the truck to a junkyard . A little later Grüber also arrives there to pay his men and is provided by Schimanski and his colleagues.

Back at the station, Schimanski is presented with a request from the BKA to release Grüber from Kriminaloberrat Königsberg, which, however, after careful examination turns out to be a document initiated by Tumler. When they visit him in his apartment, they find a lot of cash and the weapon with which Mottenpaule and Stadelmaier were murdered. Tumler tells them that he is in an awkward position because his son needs expensive surgery. From this he derived the right to be bribed once.

At the end, Schimanski thanks Jenny for her help with a huge bouquet of flowers.
