Career

Tim Kennedy began his career as a hockey player with the Sioux City Musketeers, for which he was active in the United States Hockey League from 2003 to 2005 . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the sixth round as a total of 181 players by the Washington Capitals , who gave his NHL rights to the Buffalo Sabers in exchange for a draft pick.

After the attacker was on the ice from 2005 to 2008 for the Michigan State University team, he was signed by the Sabers on June 1, 2008, for whom he made his debut in the game against the New York Islanders on December 27, 2008 National Hockey League existed. The rest of the season, however, the left-handed shooter spent with their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Portland Pirates .

He spent the entire 2009/10 season in the Sabers' NHL squad and scored ten goals and 16 assists in 78 regular season games. He also played in six playoff games and scored one goal and prepared two more. In the summer of 2010, his contract extension was negotiated before the NHL arbitration tribunal. In early August 2010, the Sabers initially agreed to the court's proposal, but bought their way out of the contract for $ 333,000 on August 4. On August 30, Kennedy signed a contract with the New York Rangers as a free agent , but did not get a regular place in the Rangers' NHL squad and was therefore used in the AHL at the Hartford Wolf Pack .

On February 26, 2011, shortly before the trade deadline , the New York Rangers gave up his rights in a transfer deal to the Florida Panthers in order to sign Bryan McCabe . The management of the Panthers sent Kennedy to the farm team with the Rochester Americans in the AHL. On January 26, 2012, the Florida Panthers transferred him to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenseman Sean Sullivan . There he played mainly for the Worcester Sharks in the AHL and only came to a total of 13 missions in San Jose from February 2013. In addition, he was in three play-off games for the NHL team on the ice.

In July 2013, Kennedy signed a two-way, one-year deal with the Phoenix Coyotes . He spent the year in roughly equal parts with the Coyotes and their farm team, the Portland Pirates , in the AHL. In September 2014 he joined the Washington Capitals , who used him exclusively in the AHL at the Hershey Bears , where he was the team's top scorer with 59 and took part in the AHL All-Star Classic for the second time since 2013 . After the 2014/15 season, Kennedy moved to Europe for the first time and signed a contract with Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk from the Continental Hockey League in June 2015 . However, he was unable to assert himself there, did not feel comfortable in Russia and only had five scorer points by December 2015, so that he was released from your contract.

A few days after his release, he got a contract with Jokerit . He spent the first half of the 2016/17 season at the Swedish first division club Luleå HF , but decided in mid-December 2016 to return to North America for personal reasons. There he ran up to the end of the season on loan for the Rochester Americans in the AHL. For the 2017/18 season , Kennedy joined the Binghamton Devils .
