Tobias Thalhammer (born August 7, 1979 in Schwandorf ; stage name Toby ) is a German politician and pop singer from Munich . From 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the FDP . In 2018 he switched from the FDP to the CSU after his defeat in the list .

Life

Thalhammer spent his childhood in Teunz in the Upper Palatinate , and later in Munich. Since 2000 he has lived in Neubiberg in the Munich district .

Thalhammer holds a degree in business administration and studied business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 2000 to 2004 . His focus was on business informatics and new media as well as information, organization and management .

Pop singer

He was discovered by Peter Beil , who was a successful pop singer in the 60s and 70s (especially with Corinna, Corinna ). Thalhammer's debut single, produced by Beil, was released in 1994 as "Tobi" on ZETT Records and was called Dreaming is not forbidden . The second title includes Schröder, Du und Ich , which Frank Zander composed. In the choir sang Bell's daughter Caroline Beil . It was followed by numerous first TV appearances (among others in the current show booth of the NDR and the Sat.1 breakfast television ).

Later Thalhammer also appeared as an actor, including as "Heiko" in Marienhof , an ARD TV series , and he played in the BRAVO photo love story Midnight Crew . He also presented a commercial for Coca-Cola with Berti Vogts and today's German national soccer player Thomas Hitzlsperger .

At the end of the 90s he started working with Willy Klüter , who produced it from then on. Various maxi publications followed as "TOBY" (including You are great , 117.95 , Igloo in Alaska or When, how and where ). In 2001 the debut album Hallo, Ich bin TOBY was released . In addition to the twelve titles, the CD also contains a multimedia track with a video clip and a computer game, which at the time was considered an innovation in the field of hits. The Süddeutsche Zeitung therefore described Thalhammer in a portrait as "The new generation of hits", which he then adapted as his slogan. He also made a name for himself in Poland as TOBY z Monachium (German TOBY from Munich ) . On March 22, 2003 he had his first concert in Poland, at the Eichendorff Center in Lubowitz . Since then he has given a total of over 50 concerts here. In addition to his German songs, he has also been singing in Polish for the Polish market since 2008. He was successful with Jedna z gwiazd , the Polish cover version of One Star (who bears your name) . In 2009, as a thank you for the Silesian hospitality, he published the song Sehnsucht nach Schlesien or Tynsknota za Slonskiem in German as well as in Silesian dialect. He sings this song together with the Upper Silesian music group Proskauer Echo , which also includes the politicians of the German minority in Poland, Norbert Rasch and Henryk Lakwa. Since September 2015 he has been presenting the Rubik TOBY from Munich in the Saturday evening show Szlagierowa Biesiada on the Polish TV channel TVS , presenting hits from Germany .

Thalhammer founded almara Musikverlag eK in 2005. In addition to his own songs, he also published third-party productions. In September 2005, the title Schau nicht weg, we are the future , interpreted by Nina Stern and the Zillertaler Haderlumpen , won third place at the Grand Prix of Folk Music . In 2006, almara Musikverlag was transferred as a GmbH to the corporate group of media entrepreneur Gottfried Zmeck.

Thalhammer also acts as an organizer in the entertainment sector and builds various concerts around himself. The event concept OkTOBYfest , which took place at the Munich Oktoberfest , is worth mentioning . In June 2007 he organized and presented the first hit tour in Poland. The nine concerts under the motto Piosenka nie zna granic - songs know no borders were sold out with over 10,000 visitors. The meeting of German and Polish musicians was an official event on the occasion of the German EU Council Presidency and was supported by German and Polish sides. As various tensions arose between the German and Polish governments during this time, this tour acquired a political dimension. Antenne Bayern honored Thalhammer as Person of the Week for his commitment to German-Polish friendship.

Politician

Thalhammer was initially a member of the FDP Bavaria and was elected to the Bavarian state parliament in the state elections in 2008 via the district list of Upper Bavaria . In his direct voting group 122 Munich-Land-Nord , he took third place with 8,798 first votes (12.4 percent). On the constituency list of Upper Bavaria of the FDP, he was nominated in fourth place. With 14,402 total votes, he reached number 5 on this list and therefore received one of the seven state parliament seats for the Upper Bavarian Liberals, out of a total of 16 for all of Bavaria.

At the age of 31, Thalhammer was the youngest member of the 16th Bavarian State Parliament . He was the parliamentary managing director of the FDP state parliamentary group and thus a member of the group's executive committee . In addition, he was the spokesman for energy and environmental policy as well as for defense policy and was sent to the media council by the FDP.

After the FDP could not overcome the five percent hurdle in the state elections in Bavaria in 2013 , he left the state parliament. In the direct voting group 121 Munich-Land-Süd he achieved 7.1 percent of the first votes.

In the municipal elections in Bavaria in 2014 , he ran for the office of district administrator of the district of Munich . In the first ballot he achieved the last place of five applicants with 5.4 percent, so that he did not make it into the runoff election.

In 2013 Thalhammer became an assessor in the state board of the FDP Bavaria. Until 2018 he was a co-opted member of the FDP district committee Munich-Land, a delegate at the district, state and federal level and cultural ambassador of the FDP federal party. From 2006 to 2010 he was chairman of the Young Liberals in Upper Bavaria . The application he initiated for dealing fairly with the internship generation was accepted at the 58th regular FDP federal party conference in June 2007 in Stuttgart . Thalhammer is also a district councilor in the Munich district. The construction of a technical college in Unterschleissheim and the two high schools in Ismaning and Unterföhring due to his efforts.

Together with former Federal President Walter Scheel , Thalhammer published the book Together we are stronger in September 2010 - Twelve pleasant stories about young and old .

In 2012 he referred to Birgit Homburger as a “Vollpfosten” because she had said before the final of the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League that she hated Bayern Munich . In February 2013, however, Prime Minister Horst Seehofer referred to him as "Dipferlscheißer". The background was Thalhammer's tough stance on the incomplete counter-financing of the Education Financing Act.

Without Thalhammer's knowledge, he was proclaimed a candidate for mayor in the Baden-Württemberg city of Trossingen in April 2015 . Despite an immediate denial, the election campaign could not be stopped. Although his name was not listed on the ballot, Thalhammer received eight votes in the election.

In April 2018, after his defeat in the list of the Bavarian Liberals for the state election, he switched from the FDP to the CSU.
