Sweet rose

Traute Rose (born February 12, 1904 in Danzig ; † October 10, 1997 in Baden-Baden ) was a German actress , singer , radio play and voice actress . As a member of the well-known Berlin theater family Rose, she was one of the most popular singers of her era, who achieved great national popularity, particularly through her regular appearances on the radio and as a much sought-after dub singer in film.

Life

She was born as Traute Kummer and in 1925 married the Berlin actor and theater manager Paul Rose (1900–1973), with whom she had a daughter and a son. In the Rose Theater she played the role of "Frau John" in Gerhart Hauptmann's play Die Ratten .

In 1936, Traute Rose made her film debut with Marriage Office Fortuna . In addition to her work as a singer and actress, she lent her singing voice to numerous ( Ufa ) stars. She sang, among others, for Maria Andergast and in 1939 for Leny Marenbach in Ehe in Dosen the song made famous by Kirsten Heiberg Close your eyes and dream .

After the war she continued her stage and film career. There were also numerous appearances as a radio play speaker at various broadcasting houses, where she was often heard in leading or larger supporting roles, including in six productions of the Bavarian Radio as the wife of the Parisian commissioner Maigret , spoken by Paul Dahlke .
