Attendees
The top three associations in the UEFA national futsal team coefficient ranking receive two starting places, usually the winner and the runner-up of the national futsal championship. In addition, the defending champion receives an automatic starting place. The relevant association can therefore send a second club. If the defending champion comes from one of the three top-ranked associations, the fourth best nation in the futsal coefficient ranking will receive a second starting place. All other associations can send a team, usually the national futsal champions. A maximum of 59 teams from the 55 UEFA member associations can take part.
With the 2016/17 UEFA Futsal Cup winner Inter FS coming from one of the top three associations, Italy got a second place on the grid. A total of 56 teams from 52 member associations registered their participation, more than ever before. Northern Ireland sent a team for the first time. From the German-speaking countries, Jahn Regensburg (Germany), ASKÖ FC Diamant Linz (Austria) and Futsal Minerva Bern (Switzerland) took part as the respective champions of the national futsal championships.
Classification
The teams entered are ranked on the basis of their UEFA Futsal Club Coefficient, based on their performance in European competitions over the past three seasons.
Preliminary round
- The teams in places 24-55 start in the preliminary round and play in groups of four. The group winners qualify for the main round.
Main round
- The defending champion and the teams in places 1–23 go straight to the main round, divided into an A-path and a B-path.
-
Path A includes the defending champion and the teams in the ranking positions 1–11 and 16–19. These 16 teams are drawn in groups of four. The best three teams in each group qualify for the elite round.
-
Path B includes the teams in positions 12–15 and 20–33 as well as the 8 group winners of the preliminary round. These 16 teams are drawn into groups of four, from which the respective group winner qualifies for the elite round.
Elite round
- The 16 teams in the elite round are drawn in groups of four. The winners of each group qualify for the final tournament.
format
In the preliminary round, main round and elite round, a mini-tournament will be played by a previously selected team in the group. Each team plays once against each other team in their group.
The teams are ranked according to the number of points they have scored (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss). If two or more teams are tied at the end of all group games, the following rules apply:
- Number of points in direct comparison
- Goal difference in direct comparison
- Number of goals scored in direct comparison
- If more than two teams are tied and a number of teams are still tied after applying the above criteria, the direct comparison criteria will only be used on these teams to determine the order
- Goal difference in all group matches
- Scored goals in all group matches
-
Shoot from six meters when two teams have the same number of points, meet in the last match of the round and are still tied after all of the above criteria have been applied. This rule does not apply if more than two teams are tied or the order is not relevant for qualifying for the next round.
- Fair play rating (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, yellow-red card = 3 points);
- UEFA futsal club coefficient
- Drawing lots
The final tournament is played in a knockout system . The Pabellón Príncipe Felipe in Saragossa has been chosen by UEFA as the venue for the final tournament .
Preliminary round
In the preliminary round, the teams took part in places 24-55 of the club coefficient ranking. These were again divided into four lottery pots based on their ranking. The preliminary round was from 22. – 26. Played August 2017, the group winners qualified for the main round.

The winner of group C, Luxol St Andrews , took over the place in main group 8.
The group tournaments were held in the period from 10th to 15th October. The winner of each group qualified for the elite round.

Final tournament
On December 7, 2017, UEFA announced that the final tournament would be played at the Pabellón Príncipe Felipe in Zaragoza . The draw took place on March 14, 2018, during the half-time break of the UEFA Champions League eight-final match between FC Barcelona and Chelsea London . The group winners of the elite round were drawn without restrictions in two semi-finals against each other.
The final tournament is played in a knockout system . If a game is tied at the end of normal playing time, the winner will be determined in extra time and, if necessary, in a shoot-out from the penalty mark. The exception is the game for third place, in which the six-meter shoot-out would follow normal playing time.
