The University of the Basque Country ( Basque Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea ; Spanish Universidad del País Vasco ) is a state university in Spain with locations in Vitoria-Gasteiz , Bilbao , San Sebastián and Eibar .
It was founded in 1938 in Bilbao as a Basque university. Additional locations were established in the course of the 1960s and 1970s.
Almost 50 percent of the 1,300 subjects are taught in the Basque language .
