Career
Vernon Fiddler began his career as a hockey player with the Kelowna Rockets from the Western Hockey League , for which he played from 1997 to 2000. He then moved to their league rivals Medicine Hat Tigers for a year . On May 31, 2001, the Arkansas RiverBlades from the East Coast Hockey League committed the attacker, but gave him on August 11 in exchange for Calvin Elfring to Roanoke Express . In the 2001/02 season, the Canadian was also used in the American Hockey League for the Norfolk Admirals and was elected to the ECHL All-Rookie Team .
On May 6, 2002, the Nashville Predators hired from the National Hockey League Fiddler as a free agent , without this had ever been drafted . Since then he has played regularly in the NHL for the Predators. He also came to the AHL for their farm team , the Milwaukee Admirals, until 2006 . During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season , Fiddler was only on the ice for the Admirals.
On July 1, 2009, he signed a contract with the Phoenix Coyotes as a free agent . Two years later, Fiddler received a three-year contract with the Dallas Stars . This was extended for two more years in summer 2014, before Fiddler joined the New Jersey Devils as a free agent in July 2016 . With the Devils, the attacker spent almost half of the 2016/17 season before returning to the Nashville Predators in February 2017, who in return sent a four-round vote for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft to New Jersey. With the Predators, Fiddler reached the Stanley Cup final, but lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins .
In September 2017, at the age of 37, he finally announced the end of his career in professional sports.
