The Volvo PV 60 is a passenger car that was built by Volvo between 1946 and 1950. It replaced the series PV 53 to PV 56 .
While the body was redesigned, the engine, a side-controlled six-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 3670 cm³, was taken over from its predecessor. Only the output has been increased slightly to 90 PS (66 kW) (PV53 to PV56: 86 PS / 63 kW).
The car was presented in the royal tennis halls in Stockholm in September 1944 together with the smaller PV 444 . Delivery did not begin until 1946. By 1950, 3006 pieces of this model had been built. There were also 500 of the PV 61 variant (chassis for special bodies). A taxi version was not built.
The PV 60 was discontinued in 1950 without a successor. Meanwhile, Volvo produced the smaller PV 444 , which could be sold in much larger numbers. It wasn't until 1968 that Volvo returned to the six-cylinder class with the Volvo 164 .
