As the Volvo 66 , the DAF 66 was produced from October 1975 to December 1979 after Volvo had taken over the passenger car division of the Dutch company DAF .

It was a small car that was equipped with the continuously variable automatic transmission , the Variomatic , developed by DAF . The model has been slightly modified by Volvo. The Volvo 66 had larger bumpers than the DAF 66 produced from summer 1972 to mid-1975 . Volvo also raised the build quality.

It was available as a two-door sedan and a three-door station wagon .

The vehicles were equipped with four-cylinder in-line engines with 1108 cm³ displacement and 45 HP (33 kW) or with a displacement of 1289 cm³ and an output of 57 HP (42 kW), which were supplied by Renault .

A total of 106,037 units were produced. The successor was the Volvo 343/345 .
