The Volvo C30 is a compact class vehicle with which the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo re-entered this vehicle class. The Volvo 480 , which was manufactured from spring 1986 to summer 1995, can be regarded as the indirect predecessor of the C30 .
From October 2006 the model was built by Volvo Cars Gent NV in Ghent , Belgium . From 2008, production for local markets in the Malaysian Shah Alam also took place at Swedish Motor Assemblies Sdn. Bhd.
In December 2012, production of the C30 was stopped.
development
The Volvo C30 Design Concept study, drawn by the Volvo exterior designer Simon Lamarre , was presented at the Detroit Motor Show in early 2006 . Its design largely corresponds to that of the series model that came onto the market at the end of 2006.
A five-cylinder turbo engine with a displacement of 2.4 liters and an output of 191 kW (260 hp) at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm from 2100 rpm was installed in the study.
design
On the outside, the four-seater has the brand-typical “broad shoulders” and the radiator grille with a diagonal crosspiece and Volvo lettering.
The special features of the Swedish Golf competitor include the rear end with its dark glass tailgate, which is reminiscent of the Volvo P1800 ES and the Volvo 480 , also known as the “Snow White's coffin” . Due to the relatively short overall length of the Volvo C30 of 4.25 meters, the trunk is relatively small.
In 2007 the C30 received the Red Dot award in the “product design” category.
Facelift
The revised C30 was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt and was available from dealers from November 2009.
The front design was revised and the vehicle received headlights that tapered upwards, enlarged air intakes and a honeycomb structure as a radiator grille in the style of the XC60 .

- All diesel engines intended for the German market have a particulate filter as standard. Diesel without a particulate filter is common within the EU.
- The engines come from different companies: Volvo (all 5-cyl.), PSA Group (4-cyl. Diesel), Mazda / Ford (4-cyl. Otto).
- There is also an electric motorized Volvo C30 Electric range limited to 250 units .
