The DAF 66 was a lower middle class car from the Dutch manufacturer DAF .

history

The successor to the DAF 55 designed by Giovanni Michelotti came onto the market in October 1972. In addition to the sedan, it was also available as a station wagon and coupé.

It was distinguished from its predecessor by a new front design and a De-Dion axle instead of a swing axle as the rear axle. The Variomatic transmission was retained. The DAF 66 had a 1100 cc Renault engine and reached a top speed of 135 km / h.

It was the last car model to appear as a DAF, since Volvo Personvagnar took over the car division in 1975. From October 1975 to December 1979 the model continued to be produced as the Volvo 66 .

This motorization can also be found in the DAF 66 Super Sport Marathon 1300 , which was offered for a short time and whose most striking feature are round double headlights.
