DAF Y-2300
The DAF Y-2300 series was a military truck with a payload of ten tons that DAF produced for the Dutch army. The vehicle was built in various versions for general use and replaced the DAF YA-616 series tipper vehicles that DAF supplied to the Royal Dutch Army in the 1960s. In total, more than 1100 vehicles were manufactured between 1983 and 1986. The DAF Y-2300 series was derived from the civilian DAF F1600 / F1800 model series. The successor to the YTV-2300 tractor unit was the DAF Tropco .
General
In 1983 DAF started production of the ten-ton YAZ-2300 for the Dutch army. The main task there was the transport of ammunition . The truck had all-wheel drive ( drive formula : 6 × 6) and was equipped with a DAF 825 DHS turbodiesel with an output of 245 PS (180 kW). Most of the vehicles had a loading crane for loading and unloading. The YAZ-2300 was also used to transport temporary bridges, which are lowered into the water via a hydraulic system. It was also available as a YKZ-2300 tipper truck and a YGZ-2300 tanker .
DAF YTV-2300
The YTV-2300 tractor unit was derived from the Y-2300 series . It also had all-wheel drive, but only two axles with rear double tires.
Technical specifications
The series had a driver's cab that could be tilted by 60 degrees , which simplified the maintenance of the engine. In the YAZ-2300, the loading area was made of aluminum and mobile support pillars were attached to the side to increase stability when lifting loads. The pure transport truck and the YTV-2300 had a wheelbase 40 centimeters shorter than the other models.
