The DAF 55 was a car model built by the manufacturer DAF from 1967 to 1972 .

Model history

The 55 went into production in December 1967, followed by the coupé variant from the 1968 Geneva Motor Show and the station wagon from autumn 1968. The engine of this model came from the Renault 8 . A single equipment variant was offered that was slightly better equipped than the DAF 44 Luxe . The body was designed by Giovanni Michelotti .

A total of 164,000 vehicles of this model were produced, of which around 11,000 were the DAF 55 Marathon sports coupé , the engine of which was more powerful with the same displacement and greater compression.

The DAF 55 was replaced in 1972 by the successor model DAF 66 .
