Vysoká (German Hochdorf or Hochberg , Hungarian Magaslak - until 1892 Viszoka ) is a municipality in the center of Slovakia with 144 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Banská Štiavnica , a district of Banskobystrický kraj .

geography

The community is located in the Schemnitz Mountains in a high mountain basin. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 667  m nm and is 14 kilometers away from Banská Štiavnica .

Neighboring communities are Hodruša-Hámre in the north, Štiavnické Bane in the northeast, Dekýš in the east and south, Uhliská in the southwest and Voznica in the west.

history

Vysoká was first mentioned in writing in 1388 as Magasfalu . In the same year it belonged to the dominion of the castle Lewenz , then to the estate of the Bergkammer. In 1554 15 subject households lived here, in 1715 15 and 1720 12 households. In 1828 there were 34 houses and 207 inhabitants who were employed as woodcutters and charcoal burners.

Until 1918 the place in Hont County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. During the time of the first Czechoslovak republic, Vysoká was a village characterized by forestry and agriculture, and there was a small brick factory until 1940.

According to the 2011 census, there were 134 people living in Vysoká, of which 123 were Slovaks and one Czech . 10 residents gave no information on ethnicity.

111 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses. Seven residents had no denomination and 13 residents had no denomination.
