Włodary ( German Volkmannsdorf ) is a place of Gmina Korfantów in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location

The street village of Włodary is located in the southwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Friedländer Land. The village of Włodary is about nine kilometers southwest of the municipal seat of Korfantów , about 16 kilometers east of the district town of Nysa and about 49 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Włodary lies in the Nizina Śląska ( Silesian Plain ) within the Równina Niemodlińska ( Falkenberg Plain ). The Voivodeship Road Droga wojewódzka 407 runs through the village .

The village was first mentioned as Villa Vlokmari in 1284 . In 1305 a church in the village is mentioned for the first time. In 1371 the place is mentioned as Wolkmanstorf .

In 1694 the village provided oak wood for the construction of the Neiss fortress. After the First Silesian War in 1742, Volkmannsdorf and most of Silesia fell to Prussia . In 1783 a parish church, a presbytery and a Catholic school are mentioned in the village. There were also 104 farms in the village.

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community Volkmannsdorf belonged from 1816 to the district of Neisse in the administrative district of Opole . In 1845 there was a Catholic church, a Catholic school, a castle and 198 houses in the village. In the same year, 937 people lived in Volkmannsdorf, all of them Catholic. In 1865 the village had 76 farmers, 38 gardeners and 40 cottagers. In 1874 the Volkmannsdorf district was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Rennersdorf and Volkmannsdorf and the Volkmannsdorf estate. The first head of office was the landowner Krautwald. In 1885 Volkmannsdorf had 973 inhabitants.

Volkmannsdorf had 950 inhabitants in 1933 and 927 in 1939. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Neisse .

As a result of the Second World War, Volkmannsdorf fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . Subsequently, the place was renamed Włodary and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1946 the German population was expelled. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Nyski ( Neisse district ). In 2008 there were 732 people in Włodary.

  • The Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (Polish: Kościół Narodzenia Najświętszej Marii Panny ) is the parish church of the parish of the same name in the village. In 1305 a church was mentioned in the village. The current building was built between 1749 and 1754 in the Baroque style. The church building was placed under monument protection in 1966.
