The Gmina Korfantów is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Nyski of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name ( German Friedland in Oberschlesien ) with about 1850 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the southwestern part of Upper Silesia , about 15 kilometers from the voivodeship capital Opole (Opole) . The municipality borders in the west on the district town of Nysa (Neisse) . The Ścinawa Niemodlińska (Steinau) belongs to the running waters .
history
The municipality came to the Opole Voivodeship in 1950, which changed its layout several times until 1999. The powiat Nyski was re-established in 1999. In 1993 Korfantów received city rights again and the municipality got its current status.
