Valerija Strachowa ( Ukrainian Валерія Страхова , Russian Валерия Страхова , English transcription Valeriya Strakhova ; born June 9, 1995 in Kerch ) is a Ukrainian tennis player .

Career

Strachowa mainly plays tournaments on the ITF Women's Circuit , where she has won eleven titles in singles and 14 in doubles. She prefers the hard court.

Her first tournament as a professional she played in May 2011 in Istanbul, where she was eliminated in the second round against Andreea Vaideanu . She celebrated her first tournament victory in April 2013 in Schymkent , where she defeated Lyubow Vasilyeva in two sets in the final .

She played her first tournament on the WTA Tour in April 2014 at the Portugal Open ; in the qualification she was defeated there by the French Alizé Lim with 3: 6 and 0: 6. At the BRD Bucharest Open in 2015 she failed in the first round of qualification against the Romanian Cristina Ene ; with her doubles partner Anastasija Wassyljewa she lost against the top seeded pairing Andreja Klepač / Aleksandra Krunić in round one with 0: 6 and 0: 6. At the Hechingen Ladies Open , she made it into the quarter-finals with victories over Gabriela Cé , Barbara Haas and Quirine Lemoine , in which she was defeated by Romina Oprandi in two sets. In doubles, she and her partner Priscilla Hon were eliminated in the first round against the Austrian duo Melanie Klaffner and Sandra Klemenschits .

At the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy and the TEB BNP Paribas İstanbul Cup , she failed in the first round of qualification in 2016.
