The Kehrbach flows through the village and joins the valley ditch (left) to the Scheckenbach, which is a right tributary of the Aisch . Approx. 1 km south-east near the Rauhen Bühl ( 382  m above sea level ) there is a motocross facility next to a landfill.

history

The place was probably founded around 650 like the surrounding -heim- places. The place was first mentioned in a document only in 1252, when the Heilsbronn monastery bought a farm in Westheim from Konrad von Külsheim. In the following years the monastery acquired ten more farms. At that time, the imperial city of Rothenburg was also wealthy in the village.

On May 30, 1525, Westheim was attacked and set on fire by the soldiers of Margrave Casimir during the Peasants' War . The place suffered badly during the Thirty Years' War .

At the end of the 18th century there were 51 properties in Westheim. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Vogtamt Altheim . If necessary, it had to be delivered to the mayor's office in Markt Bergel . The village and township government had the box office Ipsheim held. The landlords were the Principality of Bayreuth (50 properties; Ipsheim caste office: school building, 5 courtyards, 29 estates, 3 houses, forge, 2 shepherds' houses; Windsheim caste office : 2 courtyards, 1 two-thirds courtyard, 6 estates) and the imperial city of Windsheim (vicarage).

In 1810 Westheim came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Westheim tax district was formed in 1811 , to which the towns of Penleinsmühle , Sontheim and Urfersheim belonged. In 1817 the rural community Westheim was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. With the second community edict (1818), two rural communities were formed:

  • Rural community Urfersheim;
  • Rural community Westheim with Penleinsmühle and Sontheim.

The administration and jurisdiction of the rural community Westheim was subordinate to the District Court of Windsheim and the financial administration to the Ipsheim Rent Office . However, until 1848 the patrimonial courts Obernzenn -Aberdar and -Gutend held voluntary jurisdiction over four properties in Sontheim . From 1862 Westheim was administered by the Uffenheim District Office (renamed the Uffenheim District in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Windsheim Rent Office ( renamed Windsheim Tax Office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Windsheim until 1879, from 1880 District Court of Windsheim . In 1939 the community had to sell 19.104 hectares of forest to Luftgaukommando XII / XIII Nürnberg, in 1941 20 hectares for the Munasiedlung , and in 1943 another 1.42 hectares to build a barracks camp. In 1961 the municipality had an area of 12.710 km².

On July 1, 1975, Westheim was incorporated into Illesheim as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
