Vladimir Nikolayevich Artyomov

Vladimir Nikolaevich Artyomov ( Russian Владимир Николаевич Артёмов * 7. December 1964 in Vladimir ) is a former Soviet gymnast . He won four gold medals in Olympic Games and six gold medals in world championships.

Life

For years Artyomov was considered a specialist on parallel bars , who was able to deliver world-class exercises in the twelve-fight but was overshadowed by his teammates Yuri Korolev and Dmitri Bilosertschew , who won the world championship in the twelve-fight from 1981 to 1987. At the Olympic Games in 1988 he broke out of this role and was the most successful gymnast with four gold medals.

Vladimir Artyomov was the successor of Nikolai Andrianow , the seven-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, who also comes from the Vladimir gymnastics school. In 2006, Vladimir Artyomov was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame .
