The 2017/18 season of the Vysschaya Hockey League is the 26th season of the second-highest Russian ice hockey division .

Changes compared to the previous year

mode

As in the previous season, the league includes 26 participants - 22 Russian, two Kazakh and two Chinese teams. They each play a return match against every other participant in the league, so each team plays a total of 50 games in the main round. The 16 best-placed teams then qualified for the playoffs, in which the second division champions are played. Each team receives three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after extra time, one point for a loss after extra time and zero points for a loss after regular time.
