The Xavier University (lat. Universitas Xaveriana Cincinnatensis ) is a private university under Roman Catholic , Jesuit sponsorship based in Cincinnati , Ohio .

The college was founded in 1831 by the Jesuit order . It is the fourth oldest Jesuit university and the sixth oldest Catholic university in the United States. She is one of 28 members of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities .

Sports

The university's sports teams compete as musketeers and have been members of the Big East Conference within NCAA Division I since 2013 .
