Zásada (German Sassadel ) is a place in the Iserland (Pojizeří) near Železný Brod . It is part of the Železnobrodsko microregion .

history

The first mention of Zásada took place in the first half of the 14th century. At that time there was a castle belonging to the Čuch family on the site of today's school . Johann Čuch von Zásada was court marshal of King Wenceslas IV. John's son Peter Čuch was a loyal supporter of Emperor Sigismund . For unknown reasons, he lost all of his fortune, which included Navarov Castle . With the help of the emperor he recaptured the castle, but was unable to prevent the collapse of his rule due to financial difficulties.

The place came under the rule of the Lords of Smiřický of Smiřice , who lost their possessions after the Battle of White Mountain . After the occupation by the Swedes , the village was not plundered in the Thirty Years War , but had to bear heavy loads in the following years.

On July 1, 1766, Emperor Joseph II visited Zásada.

In 1843 Zásada consisted of 118 houses with 917 inhabitants. The beginning of glass production is also dated to this time. In 1862 knitwear production was added. Ten years later the volunteer fire brigade , a primary school and a sports club were founded. With the industrial development, the prosperity of the population also increased. In 1929 Zásada had 90 companies. Eleven of the 910 inhabitants are said to have been millionaires. In 1936 Zásada was promoted to town; At that time there were 1600 inhabitants here. Since 2006 the place has again the status of a Městys .
