Zeri is an Italian municipality with 1004 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Massa-Carrara in the Tuscany region .

Location of Zeri in the province of Massa-Carrara

The municipality is located about 160 km northwest of the regional capital Florence , about 60 km northwest of Massa and 53 km northwest of Carrara in the diocese of Massa Carrara-Pontremoli . It is the westernmost and one of the northernmost municipalities in Tuscany and part of the ancient Lunigiana region . It borders the regions of Emilia-Romagna ( province of Parma ) and Liguria ( province of La Spezia ). The community is a Comune sparso (scattered community) that has no eponymous capital. The seat of the town hall is the district of Patigno . The place lies between the Magra valley ( Val di Magra ) and the Vara valley ( Val di Vara ) in the climatic classification of Italian municipalities in zone F, 3 136 GG. Important bodies of water in the municipality are the Torrenti Gordana (10 of 15 km in the municipality) and Teglia (4 of 13 km), which all belong to the river system of the Magra.

The districts (frazioni) include Antara (815 m, approx. 10 inhabitants), Bergugliara (837 m, approx. 40 inhabitants), Bosco di Rossano (638 m, approx. 35 inhabitants), Chiesa di Rossano (702 m, approx 40 inhabitants), Castello (727 m, approx. 40 inhabitants), Codolo (Codolo-Chiesa and Codolo di Sotto, 568–582 m, approx. 35 inhabitants in total), Coloretta (674 m, approx. 260 inhabitants), Noce (603 m, approx. 70 inhabitants), Paretola (681 m, approx. 30 inhabitants), Patigno (main town with town hall, 708 m, approx. 230 inhabitants), Valditermine (649 m, approx. 40 inhabitants), Villaggio degli Aracci (1193 m, approx. 10 inhabitants) and Valle (684 m, approx. 30 inhabitants).

The neighboring municipalities are Albareto ( PR ), Mulazzo , Pontremoli , Rocchetta di Vara ( SP ), Sesta Godano (SP) and Zignago (SP).

history

The community was established in 1777 as part of the territorial reforms under Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo . Before that it belonged to Pontremoli.
