Calls

Parts of the 11th Panzer Grenadier Division were deployed in the flood disaster in February 1962 and in aid in the summer of 1975 in the major fire in the Lüneburg Heath . In connection with the Lindwurm campaign in September 1990, parts of the division, in particular paramedics from Leer (East Friesland), were on duty in Nordenham for a few weeks . During the First Gulf War , the division supported the transfer of US and British troops from November 1990 to July 1991 with transport, repair and security services in the ports of Emden and Nordenham .

Association badge

The division's association badge shows three wave crests on a blue background in the lower part of the undivided shield and two golden (yellow) crosses in the upper part . The plug-in cross reminds of the solidarity with the stationing region in the Oldenburger Land . This symbol was already shown in the coat of arms of the State of Oldenburg and is still used today in many coats of arms in the region, for example in the coat of arms of the Cloppenburg district . Apart from the margins, the association badge corresponds to the brigades assigned to this division. The silver cord with interwoven black thread testifies to the division status of the large association.

Trivia

On the occasion of its association badge, it was said about the division - "Did you see their crosses standing by the wayside" - what was meant by this was that the division and its brigades were subordinate to the 1st GE Corps, but are subordinate to the 1st Dutch Corps as advance forces in the event of a defense should.
