19 is the first album by the British singer Adele . It was released on January 28, 2008. In Germany and Switzerland the album climbed to number 15 in the charts, in Austria the album landed at number 29.
Background and songs
There are a total of twelve songs on the album. Hometown Glory , the first single , can be found in a few television series , including Skins and Grey's Anatomy . Chasing Pavements , the second single, achieved the best response with number two in the British charts and chart entries in the USA, Germany and Austria. The third single followed in April 2008, the title Cold Shoulder . The title Make You Feel My Love is a cover version of the 1997 song To Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan .
The song My Same entered the German charts in 2010, two years after the album was released, after Lena Meyer-Landrut sang the title in the German song contest, Unser Star, for Oslo .

criticism
Adele's debut album 19 received mixed reviews. laut.de only awarded two out of five stars. The German music editors highlight Adele's voice positively, but criticize the songs. The album wouldn't stand out enough from “ Bedingfield , Winehouse and the like”. CDStarts underlines the second half of the album as “far better” and gives the album eight out of ten stars. The English side Allmusic sees 19 as an "excellent debut", both in terms of quality and originality.
