2:30 hour race on the Nürburgring 2000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2:30 hour race on the Nürburgring 2000 , also AMC / ADAC Sports Car Festival, Nürburgring , took place on September 17th at the Nürburgring and was the eighth round of the FIA Sports Car Championship of that year.

The race

In 1999 a new sports car series was established in the United States with the American Le Mans Series . From the start, it attracted international racing teams who submitted numerous reports. In the second year the series came to Europe with two races. The racing calendar included the 500 km race at Silverstone and the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring (overall winners Jan Magnussen and David Brabham in the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S ). 1953 was the endurance race on the Nordschleifebeen extended for the first time. After 1991 it disappeared from the motorsport year and was resumed in 2000.

With the reintroduction of the 1000 km race , there were now two endurance races on the converted Nürburgring with the 2:30 hour race. The 2:30 hour race, which was driven for the first time in 1998 , was part of the 2000 FIA Sports Car Championship .

By the end of the race, the Ferrari 333SP teams David Terrien / Christian Pescatori and Philipp Peter / Marco Zadra fought a duel for victory. At the finish, Jean-Pierre Jabouille's team with drivers Terrien and Pescatori had a lead of 12 seconds over the BMS-Scuderia-Italia -333SP.
