500km Silverstone 2000 race
The 500 km race of Silverstone 2000 , also Days of Thunder (Silverstone 500 USA Challenge, European Le Mans Series), Silverstone Circuit , took place on May 13th on the Silverstone Circuit and was the third round of the American Le Mans Series of this Year.
The race
In 2000, two 500 km races were held at the Silverstone Circuit on one weekend. The sports car race held on May 13th was the first American Le Mans Series race outside of North America. The day after, the FIA GT Championship carried out its race with the same race distance, which ended with the victory of Julian Bailey and Jamie Campbell-Walter in the Lister Storm .
JJ Lehto and Jörg Müller won the American Le Mans Series race in their BMW V12 LMR with a lead of 30 seconds over the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S driven by Jan Magnussen and David Brabham .
