The Belgian Autobahn 2 , also on French. Autoroute 2 or Dutch Called Autosnelweg 2 , with a length of 88 kilometers, it is one of the most important motorway connections between Germany , the Dutch province of Limburg and the Belgian province of Limburg with the port of Antwerp and the capital Brussels . It was planned in the early 1970s and completed in the middle of this decade .
The motorway runs from Löwen Heverlee A3 or E40 via Hasselt . At the Lummen interchange , the A2 is crossed by the A13 or E313 . In 2004 a green bridge began to be built in the Maasland . This connects two nature reserves. The structure was completed in 2005. At the village of Stein on the Dutch border, the motorway merges into the A76 . In the further course of the Dutch A76 it leads to Aachen in Germany and there on the A4 to Cologne .
Course as a European route
On the entire route, it is run simultaneously as the E 314 .
