The A Grupa 1951 was the 27th season of the highest Bulgarian football league . Master became ZDNA Sofia .

mode

The league was increased to twelve clubs. The teams played against each other twice on a total of 22 match days, divided into a first and a second half.

In order to create an equal relationship between the clubs from Sofia and the clubs outside of Sofia, the promotion / relegation system was changed. At the end of the season, the two worst-placed teams that did not come from Sofia were relegated directly and were replaced by the two best non-Sofia teams from B Grupa .

The poorly placed team from Sofia also won directly in B Grupa and was replaced by the best Sofia team from B Grupa. The second worst placed team played in the relegation against the second best Sofia club of the B Grupa.
