The A Grupa 1972/73 was the 49th season of the highest Bulgarian football league . The season began on August 19, 1972 and ended on June 17, 1973.

The 18 teams played against each other twice on a total of 34 match days, divided into a first and a second round. At the end of the season, four clubs were relegated. FC Chernomorez Burgas and FC Dunaw Russe also had to leave the A Grupa after the match had been agreed, in addition to the relegated athletes in the last two places in the table . For the following season, the league was reduced to 16 clubs.
