The A Grupa 1987/88 was the 64th season of the highest Bulgarian football league . The season began on August 8, 1987 and ended on May 29, 1988.

Vitosha Sofia became the master .

mode

The 16 teams played against each other twice on a total of 30 match days, divided into a first and a second round. The two bottom of the table were relegated directly to B Grupa .

The rule that there were no points to be awarded for a 0-0 win has been repealed. There were only four goalless draws in the last season.
