The B Grupa 1987/88 was the 39th season of the second highest Bulgarian football league. It began on August 9, 1987 and ended on May 29, 1988.

The 20 teams competed against each other twice on 38 match days, divided into a round trip and a second round. The master and runner-up were promoted to the A Grupa , while the last four teams were relegated to the W Grupa.

The rule that there were no points to be awarded for a 0-0 win has been repealed. There were only five goalless draws in the last season.
