The Wtora liga 2019/20 was the 71st season of the second highest Bulgarian soccer division. It started on July 20, 2019 and was originally supposed to end on May 23, 2020.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , gaming operations were suspended on March 13, 2020. After the Bulgarian government announced the easing of measures against the pandemic on May 6, the Bulgarian Football Association announced its plan on May 7, 2020 either to restart the game on June 5 or to declare the season over. The decision will be taken after discussion with the clubs in Wtora Liga. On May 15, 2020, the football association announced its decision to declare the season over and to use the status after the 22nd round as the final table.
As a result, CSKA 1948 Sofia rose automatically, while Septemwri Sofia and PFK Montana qualified for the relegation. Relegated were Spartak Varna , FK Spartak Pleven and OFK Pomorie . In addition, Botew Galabowo and Chernomorets Balchik refrained from participating in the following season for financial reasons and instead played in the third-rate treta league.
mode
17 teams were to compete against each other twice on a total of 34 match days, divided into a first half and a second half. The master went straight to the Parwa liga. The second and third could still rise through the play-offs. The last three teams were relegated.
societies
Last year's athletic relegated from the Parwa league, FC Wereja Stara Sagora, was disqualified due to match-fixing. Instead, the team competed in the southeast group of the third-class W Grupa. As a result, the Wtora liga consists of only 17 teams, with no replacement for the vacant place for Wereja.
