The B Grupa 1976/77 was the 28th season of the second highest Bulgarian football league. It began on August 7, 1976 and ended on June 8, 1977.

In the northern group, Cherno More Varna rose ahead of Etar Veliko Tarnowo with equal points . Before the penultimate matchday Etar was still one point ahead, but on matchday 37 at Benkowski Isperich couldn't get past a goalless draw.

In the southern group, too, the decision about promotion was only made on the last match day. Rosowa Dolina Kazanlak needed a win in the already relegated Sagorez Nowa Sagora. Because of the 1-1 draw, FC Chernomorets Burgas, who had been second up to that point, had to leave the promotion.

The 40 teams were geographically divided into two groups. They competed against each other twice on 38 match days, divided into a first half and a second half. The two group winners were promoted to the A Grupa . The last three clubs were relegated.
